The relative shortage in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense quite bewildering, in one way or another.
In past years, the area was a location where several South Africans would check out to get away from the considerably restrictive policies on casino gambling (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. Therefore, you could count on a concept of a booming sector to serve that tourist trade.
On the other hand, maybe it isn’t much of a discovery. The area is certainly the most bankrupt world wide, having gone through a distressing civil war (followed by devastating floods) from which it is still, very slowly, rebounding. This tends to make a location a lot less of a travel destination, even though there is now a inviting ambiance along a few of the city’s breathtaking beaches.
It is at the same time accurate that regionally somewhat, casinos in Mozambique have had to compete with several others in the freshly liberalized South Africa, which comprises of the prominent Sun City founded by the Kerzner family organization.

And, clearly, the best prawns (shrimp) worldwide come from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
